Forests in Settled & Urban Landscapes applied science and research is aimed at supporting and informing conservation, management, planning and restoration of forests across different spatial scales - from single trees along city streets to entire landscapes.
Our science and research cover a diverse range of forests across the urban-rural continuum, who’s past we try to uncover so we can understand the present and plan for the future. We monitor, measure, quantify and assess forests & landscapes using diverse methods and tools. We generate scientific knowledge and facts that enable supporting and informing strategic forest management, land use planning and decision making. We engage and collaborate with various partners ranging from the federal, provincial and municipal governments, NGOs to community groups and private landowners.
